Plant Technician (Maintenance Fitter) .
Biogen is the UK’s leader in anaerobic digestion (AD) and one of the largest independent AD operators in the UK. Having recently expanded its food waste recycling network through acquisition, it has a combined network of thirteen AD plants and six composting sites located across England, Scotland and Wales that provide cost-effective, low carbon, food and organic waste management solutions. Working with supermarkets, the hospitality industry, food manufacturers and local authorities across the UK, the AD sites recycle over half a million tonnes of food waste each year.
Position: Plant Technician (Maintenance Fitter)
Location: Hoddesdon AD Plant, Hertfordshire (Commutable from Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford, Stevenage, St Albans, Ilford and surrounding areas)
Job type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 42 hours per week, 2 week rota including alternate Saturday mornings
Salary: Max £28,000 per annum

About the role:
We are currently seeking a self-motivated and pro-active Plant Technician to join our team at Hoddesdon. You will be required to follow defined procedure and protocols to high safety and environmental standards to ensure the site operates safely. The role will assist with maintenance activities (planned and breakdowns); to deliver the required Planned Preventative Maintenance. You will also cover the Weighbridge Operation as and when necessary.
The role will comply with the Environmental Permit and Animal By-Products (ABP) regulations. Ensure the plant and immediate surrounding areas are clean and tidy at all times to receive and transfer waste from suppliers into the reception hall. Making sure the processing lines are operated at optimum performance and carrying out routine checking and monitoring of the plant equipment.
The role will work a 2 week rota including alternate Saturday mornings.
We are looking for an experienced, safety conscious individual with experience of mechanical or electrical engineer skills and ideally a relevant qualification. You will have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and carry out hard, physical and dirty work. You will be used to materials handling, confined spaces and working at heights.
Training will be provided to achieve a forklift truck license, if this are not already held. You must have a full driving licence.
