Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician 
Hours: Full Time 
Shift Pattern: Rotating Shift Pattern is 14:00 – 22:00 or 22:00 – 06:00 (occasional cover for the early shift may be required from time to time) 
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract (maternity leave)

In order to ensure we can continue to make fantastic biscuits, and to help us on this amazing journey, we are proud to announce that in early 2019 we completed the acquisition of a premium sweet and savoury biscuit manufacturer Thomas Fudge’s. This will only increase our baking capabilities across a number of brand new sweet & savoury categories. 

As the new home of Thomas Fudge’s premium biscuit brand, Burton’s Biscuit envisage Thomas Fudge’s as forming a key branded range across our existing product portfolio.

In order to ensure we continue to bake the best biscuits we now have a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave to join us as a Quality Assurance Technician / QA Technician at our Thomas Fudges Bakery in Dorset, this would be a great role for a Senior Production Operative within Food Manufacturing looking to gain some experience within Quality.

Everyone across Burtons Biscuits, takes a sense of pride in their baking, which means you’ll get to work with some fantastic people. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the quality management system to ensure that all relevant standards (e.g. BRC, HACCP, and Customer Code of Practice) are achieved. Implement food safety and quality strategies to increase bakery efficiency and meet performance criteria. 

What does your typical day look like? 

No previous experience in a similar role is needed and full training will be provided, but you'll get a lot of variety in this role and everyday will be different, one day you might be assisting the Technical Manager in getting the bakery ready to complete a BRC audit, ensuring we manage to work towards & maintain our green audit status. Next you might be working with NPD on a production trial ensuring high standard on baked products are achieved, completing product quality assessments and raw material checks. 

This is a cross functional role and a great opportunity to join a developing and growing brand. 

What are the key ingredients needed for the role? 

All you need it previous experience working in a food manufacturing environment, good knowledge of food safety & standards and a willingness to learn and work to best practices. 

Final part of the mix. 

You will need to be able to work on your own initiative, have strong communications skills and be flexible & adaptable in your approach. Resilient with the ability to challenge if the right process isn’t been followed. 

This role will be based out of our Thomas Fudges bakery in Stalbridge, Dorset. 

You may have had experience or be looking for the following: QA Technician, Food Technologist, Quality Assurance, Food Manufacturing, Production Operation, Machine Operator, Line Lead etc.
