Technical Support Engineer 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Mayflex as a Technical Support Engineer, supporting the Excel brand of cabling infrastructure products, including copper, fibre optics, management products, enclosures, cabinets and accessories. This is a very dynamic and varied role with lots of opportunity to develop skills and career progression within Mayflex. 

This is primarily an internal desk-based support role, but site visits, audits and training will also be required from time to time within the UK and Europe.

About the role: 

The role is to provide post sales technical support to Mayflex customers, primarily on the Excel range of cabling infrastructure products and potentially also the wider range of products within the Mayflex portfolio including CCTV and Networking products. 

The role is office based, located at the Mayflex HQ in Birmingham, but involves travel within the UK and occasionally Europe to carry out site audits, toolbox training and product investigations. 

The main purpose of the role is to resolve all types of customer queries quickly and professionally. These include RMA processing, incident management, general technical support, product testing, phone and email support, audits and training. 

About you: 

- A strong data cabling infrastructure background – both copper and fibre optics 
- A good working knowledge of data cabling practices and standards is essential, to include cabling techniques, termination and testing of both copper and fibre optics
- Some accreditations such as CNCI, CNIT or higher (or equivalents) would support the application 
- In addition to the above, knowledge of IP connected devices such as IPTV, Network Switches, Wireless Systems, Access Control, PoE etc. would be a distinct advantage 

To succeed in this role, you must be highly customer focused and be able to support customers via phone, online, email and face to face in a friendly, supportive and professional manner and manage & administer all calls and incidents within agreed SLA’s.
