About the role:
Working within our software development team, the Head of E-commerce Projects will be the key link between this team and the wider business. You will have responsibility for bringing commercial focus and leadership to our software team. Reporting to our Director of E-commerce, you will be working very closely with the Chief Technical Officer and Director of Operations as well as other key stakeholders in the business.
You will lead, motivate and support teams of Project Managers and Business Analysts, helping them shape, refine and follow the appropriate process to ensure the smooth delivery of projects. You’ll own the commercial side of technical projects, ensuring that these projects are aligned with and meet the requirements of the business. This will mean occasional travel to our head office in York.
All projects must be delivered efficiently and offer the most commercial value possible. You will work with the Project Teams to establish and maintain effective communication between the business and the technical teams. You’ll be uniquely placed to influence, drive and deliver projects that will form the core of Gear4music’s ongoing growth and provide our customers with a best in class experience across our platform. Taking a hands-on approach you will be managing multiple, concurrent workstreams within our fast-paced environment. Ideally suited for an entrepreneurial person with cross-functional experience.
What you’ll be doing:
-Leading and inspiring a Project Team made up of Project Managers, Business Analysts and, eventually, E-commerce Managers
-Providing strong commercial focus, input and direction to technical projects, ensuring the software development team is aligned with and understand this vision
-Empowering the Project Team to fulfil their roles to the best of their ability, and deliver amazing projects, efficiently
-Bringing the technical teams and wider business closer together, and acting as a key conduit of information from the business into the technical team
-Communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the business, and facilitating appropriate communication between cross-functional groups
-Ensuring an efficient process is maintained across a project’s lifecycle, and that projects are delivered efficiently
-Ensuring the wider business receives appropriate outputs from the project process, in a timely fashion
-Taking responsibility for the standard of any outputs produced for the wider business and for any key stakeholders
-Managing the day-to-day performance of the Project Teams, and supporting the Senior Management

-You have a demonstrable track record of working with technical team members and have the ability to effectively communicate to obtain the right information and in turn achieve the right outcomes
for the business
-You know what a smooth and efficient project lifecycle looks like
What you must have:
-5 years of experience working with e-commerce businesses;
-A very strong understanding of retail e-commerce;
-Exceptional attention to detail;

-Excellent written and oral communication;
-A technical and analytical approach to problem solving;
-A commitment to high standards;
-A minimum of degree level education or equivalent experience;
-Eligibility to work in the UK;
