Pact is seeking applications for a dynamic and high performing Business Development specialist to join their highly successful Business Development team.

About the role: 

Pact is looking to appoint a Head of Business Development to support them in identifying and securing new business opportunities in line with Pact’s Development Strategy; helping Pact achieve its ambitious growth plans to support thousands more prisoners to live crime-free lives, and the chance of a fresh start for their families. 

As Head of Business Development you will be responsible for working with the Deputy Chief Executive to co-design and implement their new national Development Strategy and to achieve agreed targets in line with Pact’s growth strategy. You will enable Pact Group to retain and expand the delivery and continued development of consistently high quality, cost-effective and responsive services, grounded in Pact’s charitable mission, vision and values. 

You will provide ongoing support for statutory tenders, grants and trusts across the Development Team (incorporating Business Development, Supporter Relations and Marketing and Communications) as well as working on large scale government grants and tenders and strategic/commercial partnerships. You will work closely with the Director of Services, Regional Heads of Service Delivery and Development, Finance and HR to develop successful tenders grounded in Pact Group’s service history 

About you: 

The successful candidate will have a track record in securing government contracts within the Criminal Justice System; writing compelling tenders as well as negotiating with and account managing contracts through ‘prime’ contractors. Excellent communication skills are a must, as are the ability to work to tight deadlines, good financial literacy and the ability to think quickly. 

You will have experience in strategic planning as well as substantial experience in managing and supporting Business Development professionals to implement the resulting strategy. You will be capable of preparing and presenting successful tenders within a competitive tendering framework and have an understanding of commissioning and procurement processes and knowledge of the sources of information on potential new business. 

You must have the ability to travel within England and Wales according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Disability Discrimination Act. The ability to work flexibly including evening and weekend work in order to meet deadlines is also required.
